Please use Cisco Jabber for business calls

Making business calls - even when working from home - while remaining reachable on your usual university number: This is easily possible with Cisco Jabber. The softphone solution also offers practical functions such as presence display, chat and direct access to the phone book.

In view of the current situation, we ask all employees to use the softphone solution Cisco Jabber for business phone calls - especially outside the university - if possible. This means that you can still be reached at your usual university telephone number when working from home, without incurring additional costs for the university due to call forwarding. At the same time, you avoid transmitting your private landline or mobile phone number.

In addition, Cisco Jabber offers a presence indicator that allows you to recognise whether colleagues are available, for example present, absent or in a conference. Individual and group chats are also possible. You also have direct access to the phone book so that you can find employees' work phone numbers quickly and easily.

The current version of Cisco Jabber is available for Windows, macOS, Android as well as iPhone and iPad. Cisco does not list a regular native Linux client in the current release notes.

If the use of Cisco Jabber is exceptionally not possible, we expressly point out that your private landline or mobile phone number may be displayed for outgoing and forwarded incoming calls.

When using mobile devices, please always ensure that you have a sufficient, reliable and stable Internet connection via mobile data or WLAN.

If problems occur during use, please contact the Service Desk at it-support@europa-uni.de. If possible, please state the exact time window, the affected telephone number and a brief description of the problem.
