WLAN / Internet access via eduroam
eduroam: WLAN access at academic institutions worldwide
With eduroam, students and employees of the university can connect to the Internet via WLAN at academic institutions worldwide that support eduroam.
How the registration works:
- Network name / SSID: eduroam
- Login: Account name @europa-uni.de
- Students: "euv123456@europa-uni.de"
- Employees: "pmeier@europa-uni.de"
- Note: This registration must not be confused with your e-mail address. (for employees)
Necessary:
- Valid account (student or employee account) at the university .
Configurations
Configuration of an Android system for the Wi-Fi network: eduroam
The following instructions describe the configuration of an Android system for access to the Wi-Fi network eduroam.
The device used here is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7, software version is Android version 13.
To log in to the network, you will need the access data for your central EUV account, which also applies to your e-mail and Moodle account.
You can access the Wi-Fi settings of your Android device via Settings => Connections. Make sure that the Wi-Fi is activated (1).
Then click on Wi-Fi. All Wi-Fi networks within range should now appear. Click on the eduroam network.
Select the following authentication and encryption options:
EAP method: PEAP
Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
CA certificate: (Not specified)
User certificate: (Not specified)
IP settings: DHCP
Proxy: None
Identity: (your domain or HIS portal login name and "@europa-uni.de") e.g. (Students) euv123456@europa-uni.de or (Employee - Paul Meier) pmeier@europa-uni.de
Anonymous identity: anonymous@europa-uni.de
Password:
Enter your password and click on Connect:
You should now be connected to the eduroam Wi-Fi network.
Configuration of an Apple iOS (iPod/iPhone/iPad) system for the WLAN network: eduroam
The following instructions describe the configuration of an Apple iOS (iPod/iPhone/iPad) system for
access to the WLAN network eduroam.
The device used here is an Apple iPhone 11 Pro, software version 13.3
To log in to the network, you need the access data for your central EUV account.
Use Settings => WLAN to access the WLAN settings of your device. Make
sure that the Wi-Fi is activated.
All Wi-Fi networks within range should appear here. Click on the
network eduroam. A login window for user name and password appears:
Enter your domain or HIS portal login name and @europa-uni.de e.g. (Students) euv123456@europa-uni.de or (Staff - Paul Meier) pmeier@europa-uni.de and your password.
Click on Connect.
A certificate will appear:
Click on Trust.
You should now be connected to the eduroam Wi-Fi network:
Configuration of an Apple MacOS (iMac/MacBook) system for the WLAN network: eduroam
The following instructions describe the configuration of an Apple iOS (iMac/ MacBook) system for access to the WLAN network eduroam.
The device used here is an Apple MacBook Air M2, software version is macOS Sequoia 15.0.1
To log in to the network, you need the access data for your central EUV account.
Use Settings → Wi-Fi to access the Wi-Fi settings of your device. Make sure that the Wi-Fi is activated.
All Wi-Fi networks within range should appear here. Click on the network eduroam:
A login window for username and password appears:
Enter your domain or HIS portal login name and @europa-uni.de e.g. (Students) euv123456@europa-uni.de or (Staff - Paul Meier) pmeier@europa-uni.de and your password here.
Click on OK.
Then click on Continue
You should now be connected to the eduroam Wi-Fi network:
Configuration of a Windows 11 system for the WLAN network: eduroam
The following instructions describe the configuration of a Windows 11 system for access to the WLAN network eduroam.
The device used here is a DELL notebook, software version is Windows 11.
To log in to the network, you need the access data for your central EUV account.
Click on the WLAN icon at the bottom right of the taskbar.
Click on the Wi-Fi network eduroam and then click on Connect
A window opens in which you enter your domain or HIS portal login name and the addition @europa-uni.de as the user name, e.g. (Students) euv123456@europa-uni.de or (Staff - Paul Meier) pmeier@europa-uni.de
Enter your password and click on OK
You should now be connected to the eduroam Wi-Fi network if you are within the range of the university Wi-Fi network.
Common mistakes, what can I do about them?
Remove the "eduroam" network under Windows:
<Network & Internet settings>, <WLAN>, <Manage known networks> if available
select "eduroam", "eduroam®", "eduroam® via partner" <Do not save>
Remove the "eduroam" profile under macOS:
<System settings>, <Privacy & Security>, <Profile>, Open profile "eduroam" <Delete profile>
Remove the "eduroam" network on Android:
<Settings>, <Network & Internet> or <WLAN>, <More settings>,
<Manage saved networks>, select "eduroam" <Remove network>
or
<WLAN> long press, tap "eduroam" icon ">", <Remove network>
Remove "eduroam" settings under iOS:
<Settings>, <WLAN>, tap "Information icon", <Ignore this network>, <Ignore>
or
<Settings>, <General>, <VPN and device management>, select "eduroam®" profile, <Remove profile>
or
<Settings>, <General>, <Profiles>, select "eduroam®" profile, <Remove profile>
- Check again whether you have entered your login data correctly (e.g. look in the configurations to see how the login name must be entered correctly)
- Caution if you have copied your user name or password --> make sure that you do not have any unwanted spaces!
Don't worry, click on "Reset password" and reset your password.
