Student account and ID card

Central Viadrina account and student card

Or "Student account" for short (central Viadrina account, assigned by the ImaAmt & the IKMZ during enrolment)
Each student receives their personal access data for their central student account with the enrolment documents.

These personal access data (user name/login and password) are the standardised login data for these IT services:

  • Access to an own email inbox (OWA),
  • The access data (regular password change) is also maintained here!
  • Login to viaCampus, the HISinOne portal
  • Login to the LMS Moodle (the central eLearning system)
  • Access to the WLAN with eduroam
  • VPN access to the university network

Please note that you may only use your personal access data (user name/login and password) to log in to university systems. This data must not be passed on to third parties (apps on the smartphone, service providers), otherwise you, the university and possibly your fellow students could suffer great damage.

Use of the VIADRINA account: Information and guidelines

Please only use your Uni/Viadrina e-mail address for communication with university institutions.

This e-mail address does not change and can be found in the central directory. Neither is the case for external addresses.

Important information about the student ID card

While your personal details (first name, surname, matriculation number, library number and library barcode, photo) are printed unalterably on the front of the card, the validity period is printed on a transparent film that can be written on and erased several times. When using one of the validation stations, the validity period can be updated on this film each time the card is returned. This makes it visually apparent that you are enrolled at the European University Viadrina for the semester in question.

Except for your matriculation number, no personal data is stored on the chip of the ID card.

You can update the validity imprint of your chip card independently and at any time during the opening hours of the university buildings at one of the validation stations.

A validation station is located at each

  • in the waiting area of the Division of Student Affairs in the Auditorium Maximum building (upper entrance to the Audimax)
  • in the Gräfin-Dönhoff-Building (in the atrium, left below the screen)
  • in the Main Building (to the right of the main staircase)
  • .

In the Gräfin-Dönhoff-Building and in the entrance area of the Main Building you will also find top-up stations where you can top up your chip card with money to make copies or pay in the canteen.

  • Take at least as much care with your student ID card as you do with your EC card.

  • The rewritable strip is very sensitive. If possible, protect the card with a transparent plastic cover (hard plastic covers are recommended).

  • The card must not be bent, perforated or glued. Excessive heat (microwave) and heavy mechanical stress (washing machine) should also be avoided.

  • The loss of the ID card must be reported immediately to the Matriculation Office and the University Library in order to prevent misuse of the card by third parties.

  • Before travelling, check that the validity imprint on the card is up to date and clearly legible. If this is not the case, please update the imprint at a validation station. Any penalties for "fare dodging" cannot be covered by the university.

  • If the money chip has not been topped up and the money has still been debited from your account, please contact the Student Union immediately. Later complaints cannot be recognised.

Please contact the Matriculation Office.
