The ‘Berlin Leak’ shows once again that information security affects us all. At our live hacking event on 7 October 2026, starting at 10.30 am, Prof. Dr Schinner from BDO will demonstrate live how attacks involving CEO fraud, deepfakes and ransomware work. The so-called ‘Berlin Leak’ has once again demonstrated the consequences that can arise when confidential information falls into the wrong hands. However, successful cyber-attacks do not always begin with a technical security vulnerability. Often, the human factor is the primary focus.
How easily are we influenced by a supposedly urgent message? Can we still trust a familiar voice on the phone? And how does an initial successful attack ultimately turn into a ransomware incident?
Our live hacking event on 7 October 2026, starting at 10.30 am, will provide the answers.
We are delighted to have secured Prof. Dr Schinner from BDO as a speaker for the event. Using real-life scenarios, he will demonstrate how modern attacks work:
CEO fraud – the attack on the individual
To kick things off, you’ll witness an attack that initially requires no technical means whatsoever. CEO fraud centres on psychological manipulation, trust, authority and time pressure.
Deepfakes – when seeing and hearing are no longer enough
How convincingly can voices, images and identities be imitated today? The demonstration shows why supposedly familiar characteristics alone may no longer be sufficient to assess the authenticity of a communication.
Ransomware – when an attack becomes a security incident
Finally, you will see how an attack can evolve technically and what impact a ransomware incident can have on an organisation.
To enable everyone interested to take part, three formats are available:
