To install Windows 11
Attention: From October 2025, Windows 10 will no longer receive updates and can therefore become a security risk. You should therefore promptly check the compatibility of your computer with Windows 11 and upgrade if possible to ensure the protection of your data.
What operating system does my computer have?
Check: Right-click on the Start menu and then select Settings > System > Information. In the System > Information window that opens, you will find the architecture version of Windows next to System type under Device specifications.
Install the installation wizard for Windows 11:
After downloading the installation wizard:
Select "Run".
Note: You must run this tool as an administrator.
Check the compatibility:
If your computer is not compatible with Windows 11, you will now receive a corresponding message in the installation wizard.
If your computer is not compatible, please arrange a replacement in consultation with your departmental management. You can find information on the procedure and our standard device catalogue here.
Installation of Windows 11:
The installation wizard performs a simple upgrade -- the existing files, installed software and existing configuration on your computer remain unchanged. However, please allow some time for the installation, during which you will not be able to use the computer.
Once the installation wizard has confirmed the compatibility of your end device with the new operating system, the license conditions will be displayed. Select "Accept and install".
Once the tool is ready, click on the "Restart now" button to complete the installation on the computer.
The installation of Windows 11 may take some time. In addition, the PC will restart several times. Do not switch off the PC.
